| Description |
| |
| Downlighters are flexible & light
weight and can be fitted from below or above the ceiling, they are
ventilated to reduce heat build up in the light fitting. Simple
fixing method, can be fitted in seconds, no screws, drilling or
support required. Can be used in suspended, plasterboard ceilings.
Covers a wide range of mains and low voltage downlighters, for 30
and 60 minute fire rated ceilings. Prevents fire from penetrating
the ceiling's fire protection integrity. When exposed to fire
it provides a highly insulating, stable char and they are unaffected
by moisture, and non toxic. Once installed it is free from
additional maintenance. |
| |
| Action |
| |
| The cover has been developed to provide
maximum protection for holes created by the introduction of a downlighter
and to allow for maximum ease of fitting. In a fire situation,
the cover expands internally to fill all the available space with
a fire resistant highly insulating char. The fire is unable
to penetrate the hole and the cover is able to give additional insulation
protection to the ceiling void by reducing the chance of heat build
up and ignition of flammables, such as accumulated dust and insulation. |
| |
| Performance |
| |
| C.F.P.'s Fireplug Downlighter covers
underwent a fire resistance test in a suspended ceiling employing
the general procedures and criteria of BS476 Part 23: 1987. Date
of test: 5th August 1999, integrity reached: 72 minutes, Certificate
no: FE1/F99029, test house: Chiltern, and BS/EN 1365-2:2000 criteria
at the BRE Laboratories, Boreham Wood. |
| |
| Application |
| |
| Downlighters in ceilings are widely
used in commercial buildings. Each ceiling is subject to fire
regulations and, where applicable, the ceiling construction needs
to be fire rated. However, once a hole is made in the ceiling
for a downlighter, the integrity of the construction and its ability
to perform in a fire can be reduced significantly. To combat
this C.F.P., as part of its continuing development of passive fire
protection solutions, has developed a downlighter fire protection
cover. |

FIREPLUG
FF109 DOWNLIGHTER COVER
300 & 500mm diameters - for larger openings. |
| |
Downlighters
in ceilings are widely used in public and commercial buildings.
The ceilings are subject to fire regulations and, most will have
to be fire rated.
However, once a hole is made in the ceiling for a downlighter,
the integrity of the construction and its ability to perform in
a fire can be reduced significantly.
To combat this FIREPLUG, has developed a downlighter protection
cover. |

| The
cover has been developed to provide maximum protection for holes
created by the introduction of medium/large sized downlighters
and to allow for maximum ease of fitting. In a fire situation,
the cover expands internally to fill all the available space with
a fire resistant highly insulating char. The fire is unable to
penetrate the hole and the cover is able to give additional insulation
protection to the ceiling void by reducing the chance of heat
build up and the ignition of flammables, such as accumulated dust
and insulation. The penetration in the ceiling also provides a
path for air, thus creating drafts, the fitting of a FF109 cover
reduces this problem. |
