Fireplug
Letterbox Liner (ref. FLL) are made from Firefly 101/102 intumescent
material and are encapsulated in foil to achieve a high degree
of protection from mechanical and chemical damage. |
|
Fireplug
FLL consists of two L shaped intumescent inserts both 300 mm long
and 40 mm wide with a hinged piece 50 mm x 40 mm at one end. Double
sided tape located along one face of the liner acts as a hinge
and to affix the insert into the letter opening of the door (see
diagram above). |
|
Fireplug
Letterbox Assembly (ref. FLA) consists of a FLL plus a metal front
and back plate (see 1 & 3 on the diagram above. |
|
The
Fireplug Letterbox Assembly front and back letter plates are available
in white, bronze, satin anodised aluminium and gold anodised aluminium.
Each front letter plate is spring loaded. All fixings are supplied. |
|
Fireplug
FLL are suitable for letter openings up to 60 mm deep. |
|
Under
the action of heat the intumescent expands filling the hole in
the door through which the fire and toxic gasses could pass. The
metal front and back plates act as a cold smoke seal, delaying
the passage of smoke before expansion of the intumescent. |

FLL and FLA have been tested to British Standard BS476: Part 22:

no. FER/F97023. A test result in excess of 30 minutes was achieved.
Full test report available on request. |

FLL are easily installed using a sharp knife. Measure the size
of the opening (length and height), simply cut each insert to
size, remove backing from adhesive tape and press firmly into
the opening in the door. Position FLL centrally within opening.
The metal front and back plate can now be fixed in the usual way. |
|
Fireplug
FLL and FLA are designed to maintain the integrity of 1/2 hour
